"I carry you with me into this world, into the smell of rain & the words that dance between people & for me, it will always be this way, walking in the light, remembering being alive together." ~ Brian Andreas, Story People

Life is defined for us by the moments that happen every day...we blink and she is another year older...we've been together now longer than we haven't...the moments we always wanted to hold on to are past. Having our picture taken helps us look back and remember those moments, and everything else that went with them. So have your picture taken...and remember life!

A wedding is a serious occasion with vows and commitment, but your pictures can still be fun! There is a time for a quiet, solemn posed traditional, but we love to show off the celebration side of you too. You want people to see the joy and happiness that makes this day so special. You want people to see you being YOU, happy, thankful, and in love! Something to think about when planning your wedding day, where to take pictures, when to start, how many people will be there. What do you like to do together, where do you like to hang out? Alone or with friends or family, indoors, outdoors, at the beach, downtown, at the cute little cozy coffeeshop down the street....let us find you being you! And besides, it'll make a great story to tell your grandkids someday!

My hairdresser once said that "bangs are an intensely personal thing." I would say the same thing about choosing a wedding photographer! Not only do you need to find a photographer with great pictures and the style you like, you need someone who you will be able to work with and will be able to work with you and your whole wedding party. One of the things we hear all the time is how people appreciate Dan's personal touch ~ before he takes the first picture of your wedding party, he will know all your names and remember them the whole day long! I guess being a teacher makes it easier for him to do this but people are still amazed! Another thing is that if things are not going quite how you hoped they would, we are not going to panic or stress out because of anything. The bottom line is, it is your day and you will be married at the end of it and we'll document everything else along the way! Take it personally, its your wedding!

Fall....

Fall is a fabulous time for taking pictures...the slanted angle of the light, the warm, golden glow of the sun on tanned summer skin! Summer is still clinging to our fingertips even though the nights have a bit of a chill to them. So take a walk with your kids, tromp (gently!) through the woods, be sure to stop once in a while and listen to the sould of the leaves turning. Don't forget to look up at the splendor of the creation from a new angle and breathe in the freshness of fall!

Kurt and Jill got married in 2007...Kurt's step-dad passed away last week and they needed a picture for the memorial service. The one they liked was a shot with two other people on it, a challenge since they wanted a large print of just him. So we did some searching through their digital proofs and found a picture of him with his wife, were able to take just him out of it, and put him onto a formal background. Work a little more photoshop magic and this was the result. They loved it.

It is a wonderful thing we do, taking pictures for people on the happiest day of their lives, it is also a blessing to be able to help those same people during the difficult times.

Had a little spare time this week (!) so made up another guest book from engagements pictures, I love these! They truly become keepsakes when your guests write special notes and wishes in them. Considering your engagement session is free with your wedding package, how can you go wrong? Thanks for taking the time to look!

Oh, the weather outside was frightful but inside it was so delightful! Ken and Leanne put together a beautiful winter wedding and reception held at Faith Protestant Reformed Church in Jenison. Congratulations!
